Frequently asked questions
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly. If anything you tell me suggests you should see your GP, I'll say so.
What's the difference between an osteopath and a massage therapist?
Osteopaths are regulated healthcare professionals, trained to assess and diagnose as well as treat. I worked as a remedial massage therapist before training as an osteopath, so alongside an osteopath's assessment and joint techniques, my treatment includes plenty of hands-on soft-tissue work.
Does treatment hurt?
Some techniques can feel firm, but treatment shouldn't be painful. I check in throughout and adjust to what feels right for you. Feeling a little sore for a day or two afterwards is normal, like after exercise.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what's going on and how long you've had it. After your first session I'll give you an honest estimate and a plan. Sessions usually start closer together and spread out as you improve.
How much space do I need?
About 2 by 1 metres of clear floor for the couch. A living room or bedroom is fine.
Can I have treatment while pregnant?
Yes. Treatment is adapted to each stage of pregnancy. See the Pregnancy & Postnatal page.
Can my baby or children be in the room?
Yes, if that's easier. We can pause whenever you need to.
Is osteopathy covered by health insurance?
Many private insurers cover it. Check your policy, and I'll provide receipts.
Are you registered and DBS checked?
Yes. I'm registered with the General Osteopathic Council (registration number 9664). I also hold an enhanced DBS check. You can check the GOsC register.
Can I book at short notice?
Online booking closes 24 hours ahead, but I can often fit in same-day or next-day visits. Send me a WhatsApp or email and I'll let you know what's possible.
Which areas do you cover?
Chelsea, Kensington, Knightsbridge and across central London, from Hampstead to Battersea. See the full list on the Areas Covered page.
